Women’s Legal Service WA provides free legal assistance to women across WA in the areas of law set out below

While we endeavour to assist as many women as possible, limits on our service mean we can only provide on-going representation to women in certain circumstances. This will be discussed with you when you contact the service.

 

Family law

Parenting disputes after separation about where children live, who they spend time with and other issues related to parenting

We also provide one-off advice in relation to property settlements after separation through our pro bono Family Law Property Clinic

 

Protection & Care

Pre-Birth Planning meetings with the Department of Communities and pregnant women

Assistance with Children’s Court proceedings when children have been taken into care

 

Criminal Injuries Compensation

Applying for compensation after injuries caused by family domestic violence or sexual violence

 

Family Violence Restraining Orders

Applications for Restraining Orders against a current or former partner
