Djinda Services is the name for the Perth Aboriginal Family Violence Prevention Legal Service. Djinda is a Noongar word meaning ‘star’. The stars represent us as women who guide our families, shine brightly, survive against the odds and are strong in our determination to keep our families safe.
In partnership with Relationships Australia WA we provide specialist legal and non-legal support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women in the Perth metropolitan area who have experienced, or are at risk of, family violence or sexual assault.
Relationships Australia and Women’s Legal Service WA are working together to deliver Djinda Services. Together, we are an Aboriginal service with personal and professional experience and understanding of family and domestic violence.
How we can help you
Djinda is a free service. At Women’s Legal Service WA, we can provide information, advice, legal support and some court representation in the following areas:
- Identifying and responding to family violence
- Violence Restraining Orders
- Children’s care & protection
- Criminal Injuries Compensation – where it relates to family violence or sexual assault
- Family Law – parenting related matters
We also provide advocacy by speaking up for you and will refer you to a range of other services that can also help you and your family. You can attend appointments in Leederville and Midland, as well as our head office in East Perth.
